Replacing Maserati battery

I was having some warning lights come on and I thought it may be due to low voltage on my 10 year old battery. Talking to the local battery service shops, it was a no go, one place even told me "don't bring your car here, we don't have the labor for it, go to the dealer". Well the dealer is far away, ridiculously overpriced and backed up for 2 weeks. So I planned to replace it myself and called "Interstate All Battery Center" in Redwood City. Not only did they know exactly the right battery, they offered to come to my house and install it. Turns out their tech was very experienced with Maserati and had been replacing batteries in them for over 20 years. He handles all the calls for exotic cars, knew all the right tricks, checked under the hood for a charge port, and rigged it up so he was able to do the replacement without loosing power to the car. I was very impressed I was able to get a Maserati battery expert in my garage for just a $100 service charge. This guy probably knew more and had more experience than the dealer would. There were some issues with the drainage hose he resolved that I never would have known about.

Totally worth calling this place if you need a battery replacement. NOT

HA! what a joke! The new battery "Interstate All Battery Center" sold me was a lemon! It failed within six month. They charged me $100 to "test it" overnight and said it was good. I took to another shop and it tested bad. I had Wheel Works replace it and it was the same model battery and it has worked fine for the last 6 months. I also have the same battery in another v8, 7 years now, works fine, even when it sits for a week, turns over great. "Interstate All Battery Center" ripped me off!

Recently I was at a large battery warehouse shop in Maryland, the owner told me we don't care Interstate batteries, in fact no one in town sells that brand. Why - since Interstate moved manufacturing to China they have quality control problems. We only Deka, made in Pennsylvania, we never have faults on these batteries. So I told him my story about the Interstate battery dealer in California, weak from the start and only lasted a few months, and he said yeah, we heard they still sell lots of those on the West Coast, don't know why people buy them. Oh and the Deka cost $70 less than the Interstate I bought last year. Thus far this Deka starts better than the Interstate I replaced, however the store that put it in said there wasn't a problem with the old battery, it was the terminals, he said whoever installed this battery (shop in California) put on cheap aftermaket terminals and both + and - cracked, so they getting a good connection to the battery!
